"The Haunted Mansion": Preview, Premiere Date, Cast, and Anticipated Plot

"Haunted Mansion" Unveils Its First Trailer: Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, and Danny DeVito Encounter Unwilling Ghosts

The movie "Haunted Mansion" is the second edition, following the 2003 original, and is inspired by Disneyland's famous theme park ride of the same name. The cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy, and Tiffany Haddish.

Rosario Dawson plays Gabbie, a single mom who moves into a stunning mansion in New Orleans with her nine-year-old son, portrayed by Chase Dillon. However, they soon discover that the mansion is inhabited by spooky ghosts. To deal with these eccentric spirits, they enlist the help of a team of experts.

During the film, one cast member remarks, "These ghosts definitely don't want to leave," while another suggests, "There are so many bad people in the world, why don't you haunt them?"

In the movie, the ghosts wreak havoc in the old mansion, reminiscent of the famous Disneyland ride. Gabbie seeks help from an unusual and diverse team of experts to rid the home of these spirits.

Leading the charge is the paranormal expert portrayed by LaKeith Stanfield, while Tiffany Haddish plays the psychic, Owen Wilson takes on the role of the priest, and Danny DeVito brings his expertise as the historian.

The poster depicts the team cautiously ascending a flight of stairs inside the grand mansion, with one member holding a lit lantern, ready to confront the supernatural.

The online synopsis provides a glimpse of the plot: "A priest, a professor, and a paranormal investigator come together to assist a woman and her family as they unknowingly move into a haunted mansion in New Orleans."

The clever tagline, "Home is where the haunt is," cleverly plays on the familiar saying, "Home is where the heart is," hinting at the spooky and comedic nature of the movie.

"Haunted Mansion" is scheduled to premiere in theaters on July 28, 2023, under the direction of Justin Simien, who also helms the comedy with a script penned by Katie Dippold.

Interestingly, Simien, the director, shared during the D23 exhibit that he once worked at the Walt Disney theme park, where he would take breaks to enjoy rides like the Haunted Mansion.

He expressed, "When it comes to that ride, there was a certain essence that I sensed within the script. It carried a delightful sense of humor and captivating characters, yet it also possessed a mysterious and dark undertone. Somehow, I found a connection with it; it felt like I instinctively knew how to bring it to life," he shared.
